DP World, the UAE and US Ports? Get Real!

I have always been a Bush supporter, but this latest fiasco is something that I cannot support.  Why would someone in this country even consider allowing a company from another country to control US ports? When that company is based in the United Arab Emirates, it makes even less sense.   Isn’t this something that Americans should do for themselves?

Our government is telling us that the UAE is a ‘reliable partner’ in the war against terrorists.  However, the fact remains that its rulers maintained close ties to Osama bin Laden before Sept. 11.  During the Clinton administration, an official complained to the  UAE about their ties to bin Laden–shortly thereafter bin Laden disappeared, the camp he was staying at dismantled.  Can we say ‘tip-off?’

Can we really trust DP World and the UAE?  How do we know that at a future date they will not support the terrorists again?  The average person is against terrorism.  They do not swing one way and then the other.  Personally, I have difficulty putting my faith in the word of someone, be it a person, company or nation that leans towards supporting terrorism in any fashion.

In addition, I don’t see a need for a second 45 day federal investigation.  There’s no need for it.  This is a no-brainer, DP World should not be given control of US ports. Period.
